The Wolves
By: Dr. Lennea S. Phillips
Disingenuousness creates pseudo relationships in the workplace. Globally, workers surgically devour one another to secure their positions in the company. The moment the leader steps out of the environment the followers become cannibals and prey upon those who are perceived as weak. Their insecurities and personal issues cause them to eliminate the workers who are competent by portraying them as incompetent when in reality they’re really the ones who are incompetent acting as if they’re competent.
No one is really authentic in the workplace because we all fall short, but why must some people use someone else’s shortcomings to prey upon them for the slaughter when everyone falls short.
Leaders promote transparency inherent in their company vision, professional developments and in the daily language but on a deeper level the workers are really the opposite. The workers talk transparency but walk disingenuously. They are programmed with the company language to appease the leader, and they’ve learned to project the vision, however the workers are devouring and slaughtering one another as the vision and company language roll out of their mouths.
There is hope!
There’s hope in exposure, knowledge, awareness and education. Once we know something we can’t act like we don’t know anymore.
Authenticity is the opposite of disingenuousness and it means to have higher morals and ethical standards, balanced processing skills and yes transparency. You can’t have one attribute and consider yourself to be authentic. They all must be present, and even if you think your character possess all of those traits, trust me it does not, because there’s always room for improvement.
There’s hope in having a leader who comprehends this process and is empathetic enough to educate, inspire and motivate the workers. There’s hope in having leaders within the organization who do not participate in the carnage or the slaughter, but instead lead by a higher set of standards not motivated by ambition or insecurity. That’s not to say that those leaders don’t have things to work on or areas of improvement. Everyone has area of improvement. What it means is that they are committed to being a positive leader and striving to be an authentic leader who educates, inspires and motivates. You’ll know if they’re really authentic because they won’t prey upon your weaknesses lying in wait for you to make a mistake that they can use against you, but they will teach you and inspire you and motivate you for greatness. Stop the slaughtering and work on your own character so that your character doesn’t position you to be next in line to be slaughtered!

I am really feeling this….and I just put it on Facebook for you. Keep doing your thing Mom!
